Docker containers that run on a single machine share the kernel of the operating system of the machine; They start instantly and use less computing and RAM. The images are built from layers of the file system and share common files. This minimizes disk usage and image downloads are much faster.

Docker containers are based on open standards and run on all major distributions of Linux, Microsoft Windows and any infrastructure, including VMs, bare-metal and in the cloud.

INSURANCE

Attachable containers isolate applications from each other and from the underlying infrastructure. Docker provides the strongest default isolation to limit application problems to a single container instead of the entire machine.
